to watch my life and doctrine
closely (1Tim. 4:16) -- adhering to the biblical
expectations and requirements of Christ for the leaders
of His church (1Timothy 3:1-7, Titus 1:6-9) and to model
a Christ-like life and attitude. (1Pet. 5:3)
to be humble as I serve as
an elder and under-shepherd, understanding I have
been given great responsibility. (James 3:1) (1Pet. 5:2)
to be accountable to Jesus,
the Chief Shepherd, (2Tim. 2:15) and to the other elders.
(James 5:16)
to use my gifts and talents
to equip His people for works of service. (Eph 4:11-12)
to gladly and openly listen
to the people of His Body (James 1:19) and to the
instructions of Christ in order to best serve the church
family. (Titus 2:1)
to treat the church as my
family, with love, attention, compassion, and the
wisdom to do what is best. (1Pet. 5:2) (Eph. 5:25)
to protect the church family
from the tactics, strategies and heresies of the enemy as
the Body is transformed by Christ into a tool which the
gates of hell can not stand up against. (1Tim. 6:20) (2Tim.
1:13-14) (2Pet. 3:17)
to lovingly teach, counsel,
admonish, and exhort the people of our church family.
(1Pet. 5:1-4) (Titus 2:15 )
